Fossil energies : the unexpected affluence

Every year, BP publishes its statistics which are an authority and which recount, country by country, the evolution for the last ten years of the production and the consumption of each category of energy. This year report brings the confirmation of a phenomenon which totally invalidates pessimistic forecasts of the last thirty years. 3,45 billions € : French electricity exports in 2015

This figure, which has just been published by the Ministry of Durable Development, has been completely unnoticed. Comments have been focused on EDF C.F.O. resignation and the risks associated with the building of two nuclear power plants in Hinkley Point, England. These two issues are much more connected than it is usually thought. But, don’t tell it !

Politics and energy policies

During a long period of time, energy policies were following economic or strategic considerations : to exploit natural resources the best possible way for those which had them, to guarantee supply security, to support the development of industrial sectors bringing a relative independence accompanied with job creations and exports which resulted from them.
