0.14% : Last French 10 years bond rate

The Agence France Tresor has issued on Thursday June 6th ten years bonds for an amount of 4 billion euro, increased to 5 billion with the non-competitive bids after auction and carrying a 0.14% interest rate, including emission premium during the whole duration of the bonds. If we exclude a very short period in the middle of 2016 but, at that time inflation was near zero, France never got financial resources in such good conditions. 0.30% : French 10 years bond interest rate

On April 18th, the market interest rate for the French debt with a ten year maturity was 0.30%. Since the beginning of the month, it has fluctuated between 0.24% and 0.34% when the yearly inflation rate was above 1%. This exceptionally low level is the consequence, in presence of the slowing of European conjuncture and especially in Germany, of the European Central Bank decision to keep negative short-term interest rates at least until the end of the year and of the favorable appreciation by investors of the France solvability. 0.70% : 10 Years French bonds rate

At a time when French government economic policy is violently questioned, due to the increases on household taxation and the social levies affecting retired people and to the de-indexing of all the social benefits including pensions, financial markets are infirming the forecasts made by the minister of Economy. The benchmark rate for the 10 years bonds the French State issues to refinance its debt when it comes to maturity and to cover its budget deficit is staying, on December 3rd at a very low level: 0.70%.
